[Body]
Alright, so you wanna know about this Ben Shelton fella and his folks, huh? Well, let me tell ya, the way I heard it, this boy, he comes from a tennis family, a whole bunch of ’em swingin’ rackets.
His Daddy and Mommy
See, his daddy, Bryan Shelton, he was a tennis pro himself. Played it real good, they say. And not just playin’, he even coached them college boys down in Florida, the Gators they call ’em. So, you know, the boy probably had a racket in his hand since he was knee-high to a grasshopper.
Now, his mama, Lisa, she wasn’t no slouch neither. They say she was a pretty good tennis player when she was young, ranked high and all that. She’s from Vegas, that flashy place, but now she’s livin’ in Henderson, quiet-like. So, this boy, Ben, he got it from both sides, the tennis genes, you know, like how some folks get their grandma’s big nose.
- Daddy: Bryan Shelton, tennis pro and coach.
- Mommy: Lisa Witsken Shelton, used to play tennis real good.
And There’s More Family in the Mix
And it don’t stop there! This boy’s got an uncle, Todd Witsken, his mama’s brother, I reckon. And guess what? He played tennis too! A whole family of racket swingers, can you believe it? It’s like they got tennis balls for blood instead of, well, you know, regular blood.
Ben’s Big Servin’ and Winnin’
This Ben, he’s somethin’ else, though. They say he’s got a serve like a cannon, fast as lightning. Folks are callin’ him a “phenom,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ you’d see at the county fair. He’s winnin’ matches and makin’ a name for himself, just like his daddy and them.
He even won himself a big tournament a while back, somethin’ called the Hall of Fame Championships. And they say he was the first black fella to win one of them ATP thingamajigs since some fella named Arthur Ashe way back when. That’s a big deal, I guess. Like winnin’ the blue ribbon at the pie contest, only with more money.
Money, Money, Money
Speakin’ of money, they say this boy’s made a whole heap of it, millions they say. $5.2 million, to be exact. That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life! Guess all that racket swingin’ pays off, huh? He’s still young too, only 20 or so. Got his whole life ahead of him to make even more money and swing that racket. Probably buy himself a big ol’ house and a fancy car, maybe even a gold-plated racket, who knows?
Last Year’s Big Show
And just last year, he was doin’ real good at the U.S. Open, big tournament you know, made it all the way to the semi-finals. Folks were cheerin’, and hollerin’, and clappin’ for him, I bet. Must’ve made his folks proud, seein’ their boy doin’ so well. All that practice and all them years of hittin’ balls, it all paid off in the end.
So that’s the story of Ben Shelton and his folks, as far as I can tell ya. A tennis family through and through, with this young fella carryin’ on the tradition. He’s got the talent, the serve, and the money, and it sounds like he’s makin’ his family mighty proud. Good for him, I say. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my own young’uns, make sure they ain’t out there swingin’ nothin’ but the garden hose.
