Well, let me tell you ’bout this fella, Herschel Walker. Folks been talkin’ ’bout him a lot, ya know? He’s a football player, a real good one, they say. I don’t know much ’bout football, all that runnin’ and thumpin’, but even I heard ’bout Herschel Walker.
Herschel Walker and the College Days
So, this Herschel, he played for the University of Georgia. That’s a college, a place where young folks go to learn things, though I reckon Herschel was learnin’ more ’bout football than books. They say he was the best player ever back then, in the whole college football thing. The best ever! Imagine that! He even won some big trophy, the Heisman, they call it. Must be somethin’ fancy, like a big ol’ shiny cup or somethin’.
- Played for University of Georgia
- Won the Heisman Trophy
- Considered one of the greatest college players
Now, Herschel, he didn’t just play, he won! Led his team to somethin’ called a national championship in 1980. That’s like winnin’ the whole shebang, the big prize. Folks still talkin’ ’bout it, even after all these years. He was a real star, that boy. Bright lights shinin’ on him, just like them city lights I hear tell of.
Herschel Walker Goes Pro
After college, Herschel went on to play professional football. That’s where the real money is, they say. He played for a bunch of teams, like the New Jersey Generals, the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, and even the New York Giants for a bit. Jumped around more than a flea on a dog, he did.
He signed a big contract with the Giants, millions of dollars, they say. Millions! Can you imagine? That’s more money than I’ll ever see in my life. He ran them kickoffs back real good, made folks cheer, I guess. But he wasn’t there long, just one year with them Giants. Then he went off to play for other teams, runnin’ and thumpin’ some more.
More than Just Football
But Herschel, he weren’t just ’bout football. He’s a fast fella, they say. Broke a world record in runnin’, the 60-yard dash. That’s fast, real fast. Faster than a chicken runnin’ from a fox! He even went to the Olympics, but not for runnin’, for somethin’ called bobsleddin’. That’s slidin’ down the ice on a sled, like kids doin’ in the winter, but way faster and more dangerous, I reckon.
And get this, he’s a black belt in some kinda fightin’ thing, Tae Kwon Do, they call it. Fifth-degree, no less! That means he knows how to throw a punch, or a kick, I suppose. He’s a tough fella, that Herschel, not just on the football field but everywhere else too. A real go-getter, always doin’ somethin’.
Herschel Walker Later in Life
Now Herschel, he’s gettin’ on in years, but he’s still makin’ news. He went back to college, finished his degree. Imagine that, an old fella like him goin’ back to school. Shows you it ain’t never too late, I guess. Never too late! He graduated from the University of Georgia, the same place he played football all them years ago. Good for him, I say.
Folks even wanted him to be a senator, somethin’ to do with the government. He didn’t win, but he tried, and that’s what counts, I reckon. He’s always been in the public eye, that Herschel, always doin’ somethin’ that gets people talkin’.
So that’s Herschel Walker for ya. A football star, a fast runner, a fighter, a graduate, and a man who ain’t afraid to try new things. He’s a legend, they say. And even an old lady like me knows his name. He’s done a lot in his life, that’s for sure. More than most folks I know. And that, as they say, is that. He played good and lived a big life, that Herschel Walker.
