Okay, so I’ve been trying to get into this John Deere Classic thing. It’s not like, the biggest tournament ever, but it’s still a pretty big deal, you know? And this year, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started looking into this Monday qualifier thing.
First off, I had to figure out where this whole thing was going down. Turns out, it’s at this place called TPC Deere Run. It’s a par 71 course, and it’s, like, 7,289 yards long. Not a walk in the park, let me tell you. Designed by this D. A. Weibring Golf Resources company. Built for spectators and stuff.
So, I started digging into how this Monday qualifier works. Apparently, there’s even a step before that called a pre-qualifier. Some guys have to go through that to get into the Monday qualifier, while others just get in based on other stuff, like, how good they are, I guess.
I spent hours going through all the details. Figuring out the dates, the location – it’s all at TPC Deere Run unless they say otherwise. That’s at 3100 Heather Knoll, Silvis, by the way.
I practiced like crazy. Went to the driving range every day, worked on my short game, played a bunch of rounds. It was intense. I even tried to simulate the pressure of the actual qualifier by playing with my buddies for money. Every shot felt like it mattered.
- Pre-qualifier: This was the first hurdle. I had to make sure to register for it on time. I was so nervous.
- Monday Qualifier: If I made it through the pre-qualifier, this was the next step. Even more pressure!
- Practice Rounds: I played as many practice rounds at TPC Deere Run as I could. It was a long drive, but I needed to familiarize myself with the course.
It was a real grind, but I was determined. I ate, slept, and breathed golf for weeks. My wife was starting to think I was crazy, but she supported me, which was cool.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go my way. I didn’t make it through the pre-qualifier. It was a bummer, but I gave it my all. Maybe next year, right?
What I Learned
- It’s tough: These qualifiers are no joke. Lots of really good players are trying to get in.
- Preparation is key: You gotta put in the time and effort if you want to have a chance.
- It’s a learning experience: Even though I didn’t make it, I learned a lot about my game and what I need to work on.
So, that’s my story about trying to get into the John Deere Classic through the Monday qualifier. It was a wild ride, and even though I didn’t succeed this time, I’m not giving up. I’ll be back next year, stronger and more prepared. Hopefully, I can share a better experience next year.
