So, I started messing around with this character, Karlach, in my game. Her whole deal is that she’s got this, like, mechanical heart, right? It’s called an Infernal Engine, which sounds pretty intense. Anyway, this thing is always on the verge of overheating, making her super hot, like, literally. So you can’t touch her or anything, she’s kinda dangerous, and she doesn’t like it very much.
First thing I did was try to figure out what was up with this engine. I found out it’s not just some magic thing, it’s actually a piece of machinery. And like any machine, it can break down, you know? I thought, “Okay, if it breaks, maybe we can fix it or find a replacement.” I mean, why not try right?
I talked to Karlach about it, and she mentioned a Tiefling blacksmith named Dammon who might know a thing or two about these Infernal Engines. Apparently, he hangs out at the Druid’s Grove. So, off I went to find this Dammon guy. It was a bit of a trek, but I eventually found him in the Tiefling area, between Zevlor’s place and the makeshift jail.
Turns out, Dammon is the only one who can work on Karlach’s engine. He took a look and said he could help, but he needed this special metal called Infernal Iron. It’s apparently super rare and scattered all over Faerun. I had to find it.
I spent a good chunk of time hunting down this Infernal Iron. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. But I managed to find some pieces here and there. Each time I got some, I’d bring it back to Dammon, and he’d do some work on Karlach’s engine.
After a few of these little fix-it sessions, Dammon managed to cool down the engine enough so Karlach wasn’t so scorching hot all the time. It was a pretty big deal because it meant she could finally, you know, have physical contact with people without burning them to a crisp. But it is still not good enough. I still need to find more infernal iron to fix her totally.
The main thing I did to make this happen was just talking to the right people and exploring a lot. Finding Dammon was key, and then it was all about locating that Infernal Iron. It felt like a real adventure, going on these little side quests to gather the materials.
