Okay, so, I was messing around online, trying to figure out who’s won all those big golf tournaments, you know, the majors. It’s always a big deal, and I wanted a list for myself. So I started digging, and man, it was a bit of a rabbit hole.
First, I hit up a bunch of sports websites. You’d think it’d be easy to find, but every site had a different way of showing it. Some had, like, these huge tables that were a pain to scroll through. Others only showed the recent winners. Ugh, not what I needed.
Then I tried some golf history sites. These were better, but still, it was a lot of clicking around, going back and forth between different pages for each tournament. I started jotting down names and years in a notebook, but it got messy real quick. Plus, I had to keep track of who won multiple times, which was a headache.
So I thought, “There’s gotta be a better way.” I decided to use a spreadsheet. I opened up a new one and started labeling columns: “Tournament,” “Year,” “Winner.” Then I went back to those websites and began copying and pasting. It was tedious, I won’t lie.
After a while, though, I had this pretty solid list going. But it was still a bit clunky. I wanted to see who had the most wins overall, and for each major. So I started playing around with the sort function, filtering by winner, then by the tournament. I also added a column to count the number of wins for each player. And it worked!
Finally, I had it: a complete, organized list of all the major winners, from way back when to now. I could easily see who won the most, which years certain players dominated, and how many times each tournament had been won by the same person. It felt good to have it all sorted out.
Here’s what I ended up with after all that work:
- The Masters: A full list, year by year, of every Masters champion.
- PGA Championship: Same deal, every winner of the PGA Championship in one place.
- U.S. Open: All the U.S. Open champs, neatly organized.
- The Open Championship: And lastly, every winner of The Open, from the 1800s to today.
It took some effort, but now I’ve got this awesome resource, and I can easily look up any major winner whenever I want. Pretty cool, right?
