So, I got this idea to try out “milos tennis”, right? I’ve been watching some tennis videos online and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, how hard could it be? Famous last words, I know.
First, I went online to do some quick research and saw a lot of ads about it. It looks so easy on these courses. It also mentioned that there are already many people learning it, so I thought, “Why not me?”
Then, I grabbed my old tennis racket from the garage. It was dusty as heck, but it would do. I also found a couple of tennis balls that my dog hadn’t completely destroyed. I changed into some workout clothes, basically just an old t-shirt and some shorts. I headed out to the local park. There are some public tennis courts there. It is a nice park, pretty empty most days, which was good because I was not ready for an audience.
I started by trying to serve. Oh boy, that was a disaster. The ball went everywhere except over the net. Most of the time, I was chasing the balls. It’s pretty tiring. I tried to remember what I saw in those videos. “Bend your knees,” “Follow through,” all that jazz. But my body was not cooperating. It felt like I had two left feet and no hand-eye coordination whatsoever.
- Serve: Tried to serve, ball went wild.
- Volley: Managed a few, mostly luck.
- Backhand: Nope, couldn’t do it.
After an hour of this, I was sweating buckets and feeling pretty defeated. I managed to hit a few balls over the net, but it was mostly luck. I tried to do a backhand, but that was a complete fail. I couldn’t even get the racket to connect with the ball properly.
Frustration Sets In
It was way harder than it looked. I was getting frustrated. I kept at it for another hour, but there was not much improvement. I decided to call it a day before I pulled a muscle or something. It was a humbling experience, to say the least. I definitely have a new respect for those tennis players on TV. They make it look so easy.
I packed up my stuff and headed home, feeling sore and a bit embarrassed. But you know what? I’m not giving up. I’ll watch some more videos, maybe even take a lesson or two. It might take time, but I’m determined to get better at this. “milos tennis,” here I come, just maybe not tomorrow. I need a day to recover, haha.
