Today, I wanna share with you guys about my latest project – split jerseys. I’ve been seeing these around lately and thought, why not give it a shot myself? Let me tell you, it was a fun ride.
First things first, I had to pick out the jerseys. I went to my closet and picked out two old jerseys that I didn’t mind cutting up. One was an old football jersey, and the other was a basketball jersey. The colors kinda matched, which was a bonus.
Then came the scary part – cutting them up. I laid them out flat on the floor and, with a deep breath, sliced them right down the middle. It felt a bit weird at first, cutting up perfectly good jerseys, but hey, gotta crack some eggs to make an omelet, right?
After that, I had to decide how to put them together. I tried a few different ways, like sewing them straight down the middle, but it looked a bit off. Then I got this idea to overlap them a bit, creating a sort of layered look. It was a bit tricky to get it right, but after a few tries, I got the hang of it.
Sewing them together was another challenge. I’m no tailor, but I’ve got a basic sewing machine that gets the job done. It took a few tries, and let’s just say my first attempt was a bit of a mess. But I learned from my mistakes and got it right eventually.
Here’s how I finally did it:
- Step 1: Cut the jerseys in half. Make sure your cuts are clean and straight.
- Step 2: Overlap the two halves. I found that overlapping by about an inch worked best for me.
- Step 3: Pin the halves together. This will keep them in place while you’re sewing.
- Step 4: Sew them together. Take your time with this, and make sure your stitches are strong.
And there you have it! My very own split jersey. It turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself. It’s unique, it’s stylish, and it’s a great way to show off your love for multiple teams or sports.
Wanna make your own?
If you are still not sure how to do it, just try, it’s easier than you think! Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. And the best part? You get a totally unique piece that no one else has. Plus, it’s a great way to upcycle old clothes and give them a new lease on life.
So, there you have it, folks. My split jersey adventure. Hope you enjoyed reading about it as much as I enjoyed making it. Until next time, stay crafty!
