Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into NBA draft stuff lately, and I decided to do my own little 2014 mock draft experiment. It’s kinda fun to see how things could have played out, you know?

First, I gathered a bunch of information. I mean, a lot. I scoured the internet for old scouting reports, player stats from college, and any pre-draft buzz I could find. It was like being a detective, piecing together clues about each player.
Digging into the Data
- I spent hours on websites. Box scores, game highlights, you name it.
- I read through countless articles from back then, trying to get a feel for what people were saying about these guys before the actual draft.
- I even looked at some old forum discussions. It’s wild to see what fans were predicting!
Then came the hard part: actually making the picks. I tried to put myself in the shoes of each team’s general manager back in 2014. What were their needs? Who were the best players available at each spot? It was a real head-scratcher sometimes.
I started with the first pick, obviously, and worked my way down. I remember pausing a few times to move players up the bord and down.
I kept tweaking and adjusting my mock draft as I went. Sometimes I’d realize, “Wait, this team would never take that guy!” and I’d have to rethink my whole approach for that pick.
Finally, after all that work, I had a complete mock draft! It felt pretty good to see it all laid out, even though it’s just a “what if” scenario. It’s cool to compare my mock to the real 2014 draft and see where I was right and where I was totally off-base. It’s all part of the fun, right?
