Okay, so I saw this thing online about figuring out someone’s net worth, and I got curious about Anthony Smith, the UFC fighter. I figured, why not try to piece it together myself? It seemed like a fun little challenge.
Digging for Clues
First, I started with the obvious: Google. I just typed in “Anthony Smith career earnings” and stuff like that. I found some sites that listed his fight purses, you know, how much he made per fight. It wasn’t always consistent, but it gave me a ballpark.
- Some sites showed his earnings from way back, even before he was in the UFC.
- Others only focused on the bigger, more recent fights.
Then I thought, “Okay, he’s probably got sponsorships, right?” So I looked for info on any deals he might have. This was trickier. I scrolled through his social media, looking for any brands he promoted. I spotted a few, but it was hard to say how much those were worth.
Adding it Up (Roughly!)
Next, I tried to estimate his expenses. This is where it got really speculative. I mean, fighters have training costs, coaches, management fees, and just regular living expenses. I figured he’s got a pretty good lifestyle, so those costs had to be significant. I basically just took a wild guess based on what I know about other fighters.
I grabbed a piece of paper and started jotting down the numbers. Fight earnings, potential sponsorship money, estimated expenses… It was all very rough, like, very rough. I definitely wasn’t getting an exact number.
I also took account of the fact about tax, after all Uncle Sam will not let you go.
The Big (Uncertain) Picture
After all that, I came up with a super-wide range. It was more like, “He’s probably worth somewhere between this much and that much.” It wasn’t scientific at all, but it was a fun exercise. It really showed me how much guesswork goes into these kinds of estimations. You see those “net worth” numbers online, and you think they’re precise, but there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes estimating going on!
It was a good way that remind myself don’t trust any net worth number online!
