Okay, so today I got curious about something kinda random. The question popped into my head: how old was Tom Brady when he got drafted? You know, the guy seems like he played forever, so I wondered how young he actually was when he started out in the NFL.

My Little Search Journey
First thing I did, naturally, was just grab my phone. I opened up a search engine – you know the one. My thumbs went to work typing in something like “Tom Brady draft age” or maybe it was “how old Tom Brady drafted”. Can’t remember exactly, my search history is a mess.
Got a bunch of results right away. Lots of sports sites and news articles came up. It’s funny how much info is out there, sometimes too much.
I saw pretty quickly that he was drafted in the 2000 NFL Draft. Okay, cool, that’s the year.
Then I needed his birthday. That was easy enough to find. Another quick search, “Tom Brady date of birth”. Bam! August 3, 1977. Got it.
Putting the Pieces Together
So now I had the two key pieces of info:

- Draft Year: 2000
- Birth Date: August 3, 1977
The NFL draft usually happens in April. So, in April 2000, he hadn’t had his birthday for that year yet, right? His birthday is in August.
Let’s do the math… From August 1977 to August 1999 is 22 years. Since the draft was in April 2000, before his August birthday, he was still 22 years old.
It feels simple now, but sometimes you just gotta walk through the steps, you know? Look up the draft date, look up the birthday, compare the dates. Took me maybe five minutes total, probably less. It’s kinda wild thinking back to 2000 and picturing him as just a 22-year-old kid getting picked so late in the draft. Crazy how things turned out for him.
Anyway, that was my little mission for the afternoon. Just wanted to share how I figured it out. Sometimes the simplest questions lead you down a quick little path of discovery.
