Okay, so I’ve been spending a fair bit of time on that Black Clover mobile game lately, you know the one. Got pretty into it. After playing for a while and getting a feel for the different characters, I figured, why not try and rank them? Seemed like a useful thing to do, maybe help some other players figure out who to focus on. So, I decided to put together my own tier list based on what I’ve seen and experienced.

My Process for Ranking
First things first, I had to actually play the game. A lot. You can’t really rank characters without getting your hands dirty, right? I tried out as many characters as I could get my hands on, used them in different teams, and took them through various parts of the game – story missions, dungeons, maybe even dipped my toes into the player-versus-player stuff.
While I was playing, I started thinking about what makes a character good in this game. It’s not always just about raw damage. I thought about things like:
- How much damage can they actually pump out?
- Can they survive taking a few hits?
- Do they have useful skills that help the whole team, like healing or buffs?
- Are they good in pretty much any situation, or only really shine in specific fights?
So, with those ideas floating around in my head, I started jotting down names. I grabbed a piece of paper – okay, fine, it was a notes app on my phone – and started sorting. It wasn’t super scientific at first. I put the characters that felt obviously super strong at the top, the ones that felt kinda weak at the bottom.
Then came the harder part: figuring out the middle ground and refining the list. This took some shuffling. I’d place a character, then think, “Hmm, actually, are they really better than this other one?” Sometimes I’d move a character up or down a tier after using them in a specific challenging fight where they either surprisingly excelled or totally flopped.
Sorting Them Out
I ended up grouping them into the usual tiers, you know, like S, A, B, C, that kind of thing.

- S Tier: These were the game-changers, the ones that felt like they made almost any team better. Super powerful, super useful.
- A Tier: Really solid characters. Maybe not quite as broken as the S tiers, but still incredibly effective and reliable. You’d be happy to have them.
- B Tier: Good, usable characters. They definitely have their place and can perform well, especially with the right team setup, but might have some drawbacks or be more situational.
- C Tier and below: These were the characters I found myself using less often. Maybe they’re very niche, or just generally outperformed by others. Doesn’t mean they’re totally useless, but I wouldn’t prioritize building them first.
It definitely took a bit of fiddling to get it to a point where I felt okay with it. Had to compare characters side-by-side sometimes, thinking about their skills and how they actually performed in battles I ran.
So yeah, that was pretty much my process. Spent some time playing, figured out what I valued in a character, started sorting, and then kept tweaking it based on actual gameplay. Remember, this is just my take based on my own hours sunk into the game. Your mileage might vary depending on who you pull or how you like to play! It’s always best to try characters out for yourself too.
