So, I was watching some baseball stuff the other day, you know, just catching up. And this name, Blake Burke, kept popping up. Kid’s got some serious power, really smacking the ball for Tennessee. It got me thinking, talent like that, sometimes it runs in the family, right?

I got curious. Plain and simple. You see these young guys tearing it up, and you wonder about their background. Where’d they get it from? So, I decided to do a little digging, my own little “practice” session if you will, just poking around online to see what I could find about his dad.
It wasn’t like some big investigation, you know. Just spent a bit of time searching around. Typed in “Blake Burke father” and started clicking through some stuff. Read a few articles, checked some baseball reference pages, that kind of thing. Just trying to piece together the story.
What I Found Out
Turns out, yup, his dad was a ballplayer too. Kevin Burke. That’s the name. He played back in the day. Got drafted, even. Played in the minor leagues for a while with the Rockies organization, I think. Didn’t make the big show like some guys, but hey, getting drafted and playing pro ball at any level is tough, real tough.
Here’s some quick stuff I remember finding:
- Kevin Burke played college ball first.
- Got drafted by the Colorado Rockies.
- Played some years in their minor league system.
- Seems like he was an outfielder too, maybe? Or first base? Details get fuzzy, was just casual searching.
It kinda clicked then. Seeing Blake out there, hitting bombs, you can see maybe where some of that comes from. It’s pretty cool, that father-son connection in sports. You see it all the time, but it’s always interesting. Like, did his dad teach him? Did he grow up around the game because of his father? Probably.

Anyway, that was my little practice run, just satisfying some curiosity. Started with seeing this kid Blake Burke play and ended up learning a bit about his dad, Kevin. Just goes to show, sometimes there’s a whole history behind the players you see on the field. Pretty neat stuff.
