Okay, here’s my share about making a magnetic golf bracelet, just like I promised!

So, I got this crazy idea last week. I was watching some golf on TV, and those guys are always fiddling with something, right? And I’ve been having this on-and-off wrist pain thing for ages. Then it hit me – magnetic bracelet. Why not try making one for golf? I mean, gotta try something, right?
First things first, I raided my wife’s craft box. She’s got everything! Found some stretchy cord – the thick kind, not the flimsy stuff. Figured that’d hold up better on the course. Then I ordered some neodymium magnets off that online store – the small, round ones. I read somewhere that the strength of the magnet matters, so I went for something in the middle. Didn’t want to accidentally attract golf carts or anything!
Next up, the beads. Couldn’t just string magnets on a cord, that’d look weird. Found some cool-looking hematite beads in my wife’s stash. They’re kinda dark grey and shiny. Thought they’d look good with the magnets. So, I laid everything out on the table: cord, magnets, beads.
The actual making part was easy. I just started stringing. Bead, magnet, bead, magnet… you get the idea. I made sure the magnets were facing the same way – I read something about polarity, but honestly, I just wanted them to look consistent. This took a little bit of time. Trying to get the cord through the tiny bead holes wasn’t a breeze!
The hardest part was figuring out the right length. Too tight, and it’d cut off my circulation. Too loose, and it’d flop around and mess up my swing. I measured my wrist with a piece of string and added about half an inch for wiggle room. Then I kept trying it on as I strung the beads and magnets, adjusting as needed.

Finally, I tied a knot. A REALLY tight knot. Used a square knot, just like my Boy Scout leader taught me, like a million years ago. Then, for extra security, I put a dab of super glue on the knot. Probably overkill, but better safe than sorry. Sniped off the excess cord. Boom! Magnetic golf bracelet.
So, did it work? I wore it during my round this past Saturday. Honestly? I don’t know if it actually helped with the wrist pain. Maybe it did, maybe it didn’t, I did birdie the 7th, though! It looked kinda cool, and I think it gave me some confidence. Plus, it was a fun little project. Worth a shot!
Here is my breakdown:
- Materials: Stretchy cord, neodymium magnets, hematite beads, super glue
- Tools: Scissors
- Time: About an hour
- Cost: Probably around $20 (most of which was the magnets)
I’ll keep wearing it and see if it makes a difference long term. Who knows, maybe it’s just a placebo effect, but hey, if it works, it works! I’ll update you guys if I see any dramatic improvement in my game or wrist pain. Now I’m off to find another project.
