Okay, so I was kinda curious about who holds the record for being the oldest player in college football, you know? It’s not something you hear about every day. So, I decided to find out.
First, I just started looking things up online to see what names popped up. I figured the internet would have the answer, right?
I started by typing in “oldest player in college football” and immediately saw a few different names mentioned. One was Matt Ganyard, who’s apparently playing for UVA (University of Virginia) at 34 years old. That’s pretty old for college football! I saw that someone said he’s the oldest right now.
Then I found another name – Alan Moore. This guy played at 61! Can you believe that? He’s considered the oldest ever, according to what I read. He was a kicker and also a Vietnam veteran, which is a pretty cool story in itself.
I also came across a player named Mohammad Hassan. He’s 42 and plays for Southwestern College. He’s huge, too – 6’6″ and 340 pounds! I wouldn’t want to go up against him on the field.
After reading a bit more, I realized there isn’t like, a set age limit for college sports. But the NCAA has some pretty strict rules about eligibility, which probably makes it hard for older folks to play. But it seems like it does happen, and it’s always fascinating to read their stories.
My Findings
So, here’s what I put together:
- Matt Ganyard: Currently playing for UVA at 34, and apparently, he’s the oldest active player in Division 1 right now.
- Alan Moore: Holds the record for the oldest ever, playing at 61. A kicker and a Vietnam vet.
- Mohammad Hassan: 42 years old and playing for Southwestern College, a sophomore offensive lineman.
It’s pretty wild to think about these guys playing college football at their ages. It just goes to show that age is just a number, right? I mean, I’m just glad I took some time to look into it and find out. It’s been a pretty interesting little project!
Anyway, I thought I’d share my findings with you all. It’s always fun to learn something new, and this was definitely a fun one for me. Hope you found it interesting, too!
