So, I saw this ad for Dustin Poirier’s new bourbon the other day, and I thought, “Why not?” I’m always up for trying new whiskeys, and I like Poirier as a fighter. Seemed like a decent enough reason to give it a shot.
First off, I went on a little hunt for this bottle. Not every liquor store had it, which kind of made it feel a bit more… exclusive, I guess? After checking a few spots, I finally found one that carried it. Grabbed the bottle, and the price wasn’t too crazy, which was a nice surprise.
Got it home, and the bottle itself looked pretty standard, nothing too flashy. But hey, it’s what’s inside that counts, right? I poured myself a glass, neat, to really get a feel for it. First impression, the smell was pretty inviting – some caramel, a bit of vanilla, the usual suspects for a bourbon.
Took a sip, and it was… smooth. Definitely smooth. It had that classic bourbon sweetness, but it wasn’t overpowering. I’m not great at picking out specific flavors, but there was definitely some oakiness, maybe a hint of spice? It went down easy, I’ll give it that.
- Smell: Caramel, vanilla, pretty standard bourbon stuff.
- Taste: Smooth, sweet but not too much, oaky, maybe a little spice.
- Overall: Enjoyable, easy to drink.
I also tried it on the rocks, and it held up pretty well. Didn’t get too watered down, which is always a plus. It was a good sipper while watching some fights, I’ll say that much.
Would I buy it again?
Yeah, probably. It’s not some mind-blowing, change-your-life bourbon, but it’s a solid choice. If you’re a fan of Poirier, or just looking for a decent, everyday bourbon, this one’s worth checking out. It’s nothing fancy, just a good, honest whiskey.
