Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with NBA stats again. I got this idea in my head: who’s the shortest dude playing center in the league? Sounds kinda funny, right? A little guy going up against all those giants. So, I started digging.
First, I pulled up the official NBA website, you know, the one with all the player profiles. They list everyone’s height and position, so that was my starting point. I figured I’d just sort by position, pick “center”, and then sort by height. Easy peasy, right? Wrong.
Turns out, it wasn’t that simple. A bunch of guys are listed as multiple positions, like center/forward, or whatever. I spent a good chunk of time just cleaning up that mess, making sure I only had dudes who actually played center, at least some of the time.
Then came the real fun. I made a simple spreadsheet – player name, height, team, that kind of thing. I started plugging in the data, going through each team’s roster one by one. Let me tell you, it took a while. I mean, there are a lot of teams, and a lot of players. My eyes were starting to cross by the end of it.
- I copied and pasted names.
- I double-checked heights.
- I got sidetracked looking up some of these guys’ stats. Some of them are actually pretty good for their size!
After all that work, guess what? I finally found my guy. The shortest center in the NBA who plays often as a center.
I am not going to say who it is! That’s what I’m working on next.
It was a longer journey than I expected, but hey, that’s how these things go sometimes. You start with a simple question and end up down a rabbit hole. But it’s all good. I learned a lot along the way, and I got my answer. Now I just gotta put it all together in a way that makes sense. Stay tuned!
