Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with creating a reflective writing piece based on my Genshin Impact gameplay. I’ve seen a few people do it, and it seemed like a fun, creative way to document my time in Teyvat. Here’s how it went down.

First, I booted up the game, obviously. I decided I’d focus on my recent adventures in Fontaine, since it’s the newest region and I’m still exploring a lot of it.
I spent a good couple of hours just wandering around, doing some daily commissions, and tackling a few world quests I’d been putting off. I made sure to really pay attention to my surroundings, the music, the character interactions – all that good stuff. You know, really soak it in.
After my play session, I grabbed my notebook and started jotting down some initial thoughts. I used to keep a genshin diary and I though it will be a waste of my notes if I don’t use it. This was just free-writing, basically, whatever came to mind:
- The underwater exploration in Fontaine is surprisingly relaxing.
- I’m still not sure how I feel about Lyney and Lynette, they’re interesting but kinda sus.
- I wish I had more Hydro characters, navigating Fontaine would be so much easier.
- I keep getting distracted by all the shiny treasure chests.
Then, I tried to organize my thoughts a bit. I decided to focus my reflective writing on one specific quest: the one where you help a Melusine find her missing “family” of objects. It was a small quest, but it had a surprising amount of emotional weight.
Diving Deeper
I started by describing the quest itself – what I did, who I talked to, what the overall goal was. Then, I moved on to my personal reactions. How did the quest make me feel? What did I think about the Melusine’s perspective? Did it remind me of anything in my own life?

I’m not gonna lie, it was a little weird at first. I’m used to writing about, like, work stuff, or practical things. Writing about my feelings about a video game felt a bit… silly. But I pushed through, and it actually became pretty interesting.
I realized that the Melusine’s attachment to her “family” of inanimate objects resonated with my own tendency to get attached to things, even if they’re not “alive”. We all assign sentimental value to objects, right? It’s a very human thing.
I ended up writing about a page and a half. It wasn’t anything fancy, just my honest thoughts and feelings about this one small part of the game.
It is a little bit messy but I think it’s okay for my first time trying a Genshin record.

Overall, I found the whole process pretty rewarding. It made me appreciate the game on a deeper level, and it was a nice change of pace from my usual routine. I might even make this a regular thing, like a little Genshin journal. It’s a fun way to combine my love of the game with a bit of creative self-reflection. I thought this will help me in my adventure along the way.
