Now, let me tell ya ‘bout a young fella named Xavier Weaver. Born on the 12th day of October, 2000, down in Orlando, Florida, this boy’s a football player with the Arizona Cardinals. He plays wide receiver, which means he’s real quick and good at catching that ball. But you know, he didn’t just get there by sittin’ around. No sir, he worked for it, just like how we work our gardens in the ol’ backyard.
Now, I reckon most folks wouldn’t know where he started. Well, back when he was a young’un, he went to a place called Orlando Christian Prep. Don’t know much ‘bout it myself, but I hear it’s a school where young folks learn to hit books and sports hard. This boy, Xavier, he wasn’t just playin’ around in school; he was out there catchin’ passes and runnin’ like the wind. By the time he finished up, he had racked up 2,124 yards catchin’ the football and scored 32 touchdowns. That’s a lot of runnin’ and a lot of scores, lemme tell ya!
After school, this boy didn’t stop. He went on to play for the South Florida Bulls, then later for the Colorado Buffaloes. Played all them years in college football like it was nothin’. In his freshman year, he played all 12 games, catchin’ 12 balls for 166 yards. Not bad for a young buck, eh? And the next year, he was just as strong, playing 8 outta 9 games, even startin’ 2 of ‘em. But don’t go thinkin’ that was the best part. Nope, come 2021, he was startin’ most of the games and makin’ his mark for them Bulls.
But you know, it ain’t always smooth sailin’. Just like how we got to deal with all the hard work in the fields, he had to work extra hard to get a shot in the big leagues. Now, Xavier Weaver didn’t get drafted like some folks do. Instead, he had to fight his way in as an undrafted free agent. But it seems like his hard work paid off, ‘cause come 2024, he found himself signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Ain’t that somethin’!
Now, I reckon you might wonder how he’s doin’ with them Cardinals. Well, he’s holdin’ his own, makin’ some good catches here and there. I heard in the third preseason game, he went on to make the longest catch of the game, a 56-yard pass against them Denver Broncos. That’s mighty impressive for a young lad who had to earn his spot the hard way.
This boy Weaver, he’s got a story like so many others who come from nothin’ but fight their way up. It ain’t just luck; it’s a whole lotta hard work, sweat, and maybe even a bit of grit. They say you don’t make it unless you got the heart to keep goin’, and Xavier Weaver’s got plenty of that.
If you follow the game, you might just see him catchin’ more balls and runnin’ for them touchdowns, just like he did back in college. Who knows? Maybe one day, he’ll be one of the big names in the league, and folks’ll be talkin’ ‘bout how he made it all the way from Orlando to the Arizona Cardinals. And if you’re lucky enough, you’ll be able to say you heard ‘bout him right here first!
So, next time you’re watchin’ the Arizona Cardinals play, keep an eye on young Xavier. He might not be the biggest name out there, but he’s got somethin’ to prove, and I got a feelin’ he’s just gettin’ started.
