Oh, you heard about the big WWE releases, huh? Well, let me tell you, it’s been quite the shock to a lotta folks. I’m talkin’ ‘bout when WWE went and let go of some real fan-favorite wrestlers. Folks like Baron Corbin, Tegan Nox, and Indi Hartwell got the boot. Now, I don’t know if you’ve been watchin’ wrestling for long, but these names… they’re big ones! Corbin, especially, he’s been around for a long time. Heck, he first came into WWE back in 2012. Can you believe that? 2012! That’s over a decade ago, and now they just let him go like that.
Now, let me tell ya, this is no small thing. WWE’s always been the big daddy in the wrestling world, right? I mean, they’ve been around forever. Started out in 1953 as the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, or CWC, and over the years it grew and grew until it became what we know today as WWE. They’ve seen a lotta superstars come and go, but releasing these wrestlers? It’s got a lotta people talkin’.
Oh, and then there’s Bobby Lashley. Now, this one took me by surprise! Bobby Lashley, a former WWE Champion, he up and left the company on August 16, 2024, when his contract expired. I thought for sure he’d stick around for longer, especially after all his success. But nope, just like that, he’s gone. He had a good run when he came back in 2018, after bein’ gone for a while. Some folks even thought he might be around for the long haul, but looks like that’s not the case. Ain’t that somethin’?
And you know, this is all part of a bigger shake-up at WWE. They’ve been makin’ cuts left and right lately, especially after merging with UFC. A lotta big names are findin’ themselves outta a job. Some of the latest releases include folks like Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Top Dolla, and Shelton Benjamin. I remember watchin’ these guys wrestle and thinkin’, “Man, they’ve been around forever.” And now, poof, gone. Just like that. It’s crazy how fast things can change in the world of wrestling.
Now, not all the releases were from the big-name superstars. Some folks you might not’ve heard of too much, like Odyssey Jones. He was good, real good, and had a lotta folks talkin’ ‘bout his skills in the ring. But even he got the axe after bein’ with WWE since 2019. If you ask me, it’s a real shame. But that’s the way of the world, I suppose. One minute you’re on top, the next you’re out the door.
As for the releases in 2024, it’s been a real doozy. WWE’s already let go of over 80 talents this year. That’s a whole lotta folks! Some of ‘em were wrestlers, but there were also producers and referees mixed in there too. Ain’t nobody safe from these cuts, I tell ya. It’s a tough business, but that’s just how it goes when you’re in the big leagues.
